Terms of Service

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of KitchIcon (the "Service") operated by [KitchIcon] ("we," "us," or "our").

By creating an account, signing in, or using the Service, you agree to these Terms and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

You must be at least 13 years old (or the minimum age required in your country) to use the Service. If you are under 18, you represent that you have permission from a parent or legal guardian.

You may not use the Service if you are barred from doing so under applicable law or if we have previously suspended or terminated your account.

KitchIcon is an AI-powered kitchen companion that helps you discover recipes, plan meals, receive step-by-step cooking guidance, save recipes, and personalize suggestions based on preferences you provide.

Features may change over time. We may add, modify, or discontinue features with reasonable notice where practicable.

• Personal recipe catalog and cooking sessions
• AI chat for meal planning and in-kitchen guidance
• Taste and dietary preference personalization
• Account data export and deletion

You sign in using email magic links and/or supported OAuth providers (such as Google) through our authentication provider, Supabase Auth.

You are responsible for maintaining access to your sign-in method and for all activity under your account. Notify us promptly at the contact email below if you suspect unauthorized access.

You agree to provide accurate information and to keep your taste profile and dietary restrictions up to date. Incorrect allergy or restriction information may lead to unsafe suggestions.

Parts of the Service use large language models and other automated systems to generate text, recommendations, and recipe-related content. AI output may be inaccurate, incomplete, outdated, or unsuitable for your circumstances.

You are solely responsible for reviewing ingredients, instructions, allergens, cooking times, and food safety before preparing or consuming any meal. Do not rely on the Service as your only source of verification.

Our separate AI Consent Policy describes how we process data for AI features and how you can manage that consent.

The Service is for general informational and entertainment purposes only. It is not medical advice, nutritional counseling, diagnosis, or treatment.

Always consult qualified professionals regarding allergies, medical diets, pregnancy, infant feeding, chronic conditions, or any health-related dietary decisions.

Emergency food allergy reactions require immediate medical attention—do not use the Service in an emergency.

You may submit recipes, messages, feedback, uploaded files, and other content ("User Content"). You retain ownership of your User Content.

You grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to host, store, reproduce, and process your User Content solely to operate, secure, and improve the Service for you— including sending relevant portions to AI providers as described in our Privacy Policy and AI Consent Policy.

You represent that you have the rights to submit User Content and that it does not violate law or third-party rights.

Personal recipe copies saved for your private use must not be shared, published, or redistributed from the Service if you do not have the rights to do so.

You agree not to:

• Use the Service for unlawful, harmful, or abusive purposes
• Attempt to bypass security, rate limits, or access controls
• Scrape, reverse engineer, or overload our systems without permission
• Upload malware or content you do not have rights to share
• Misrepresent allergies, restrictions, or identity in a way that endangers others
• Use the Service to generate content that violates applicable law
• Redistribute or publicly share third-party recipe content without permission

We may offer free and paid plans. When paid plans are available, pricing, billing cycles, and cancellation terms will be shown at checkout and managed through our payment processor (Stripe).

Unless required by law, fees are non-refundable once a billing period has started. You may cancel future renewals according to the instructions in your account settings.

We may change plan features or pricing with advance notice for existing subscribers where required.

The Service, including its software, design, branding, and documentation (excluding your User Content), is owned by [KitchIcon] or its licensors and is protected by intellectual property laws.

We grant you a limited, personal, non-transferable, revocable license to use the Service in accordance with these Terms.

You may stop using the Service at any time and may delete your account from Settings → Privacy.

We may suspend or terminate access if you violate these Terms, create risk for us or other users, or where required by law. Where reasonable, we will provide notice.

Upon termination, your right to use the Service ends. Provisions that by nature should survive (disclaimers, limitations of liability, governing law) will survive.

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, WHETHER EXPRESS, IMPLIED, OR STATUTORY, INCLUDING IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT.

We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that AI suggestions will be safe, accurate, or allergen-free.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, [KitchIcon] and its suppliers will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for loss of profits, data, goodwill, or other intangible losses, arising from your use of the Service.

Our total liability for any claim relating to the Service will not exceed the greater of (a) the amount you paid us in the twelve (12) months before the claim or (b) USD $100.

Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations; in those cases, our liability is limited to the fullest extent permitted by law.

You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless [KitchIcon] and its affiliates from claims, damages, losses, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your User Content, your use of the Service, or your violation of these Terms.

These Terms are governed by the laws of [Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada], without regard to conflict-of-law rules.

Before filing a claim, you agree to contact us at the email below and attempt to resolve the dispute informally. Nothing in this section limits mandatory consumer rights in your jurisdiction.

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will post the updated version at https://kitchicon.com/terms and update the "Last updated" date. Material changes may also be communicated by email or in-app notice.

Continued use after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms. If you do not agree, you must stop using the Service and may delete your account.
