AI Consent Policy

Last updated: 2026-07-06

This policy explains how KitchIcon uses artificial intelligence to process your data and what you agree to when you enable AI personalization.

1. Purpose of this policy

KitchIcon uses AI systems to help you plan meals, answer cooking questions, guide you through recipes, and personalize recommendations.

Because this processing may involve health-related preference data (such as allergies and dietary restrictions), we ask for your explicit consent before using that data with AI features.

This AI Consent Policy supplements our Privacy Policy and Terms of Service.

2. What you are consenting to

When you accept AI consent during onboarding (or when re-enabled in settings), you authorize us to:

  • Process your taste profile—including allergies, restrictions, dislikes, and preferences—for AI personalization
  • Send relevant portions of your chat messages and cooking session context to our AI provider
  • Generate taste summaries and recommendation signals from your recipes, feedback, and library activity
  • Use automated filtering and ranking to suggest recipes compatible with your stated constraints
  • Optionally include limited search queries with third-party web search tools when you use discovery features

3. What data is sent to AI providers

We minimize data sent to AI systems. Typical inputs include:

  • Structured taste constraints (not full raw account exports)
  • Recent chat turns needed for context (trimmed history)
  • Recipe titles, ingredients, and steps for active cooking sessions
  • Recommendation prompts derived from your preferences and feedback themes

We do not intentionally send your email address, authentication tokens, Stripe identifiers, or internal user IDs to AI providers as part of model prompts.

4. AI service providers

Our primary AI provider is Anthropic (Claude models) for chat, recommendations, and taste brief generation.

Anthropic processes data according to its API terms and privacy documentation applicable to your deployment. Commercial API usage is generally configured so that customer inputs are not used to train public foundation models—confirm details for your account.

Web search features may send short queries to search providers (such as Tavily) without full chat logs unless needed to fulfill your request.

5. Limitations and safety

AI responses are probabilistic and may be wrong. Always verify allergens, ingredients, and safe cooking practices yourself.

AI consent does not replace professional medical or nutritional advice. In an emergency, contact emergency services.

You are responsible for keeping allergy and restriction information accurate in your taste profile.

6. Automated decision-making

The Service uses automated processing to filter or rank recipes and to generate suggestions. These outputs inform what you see but do not produce legal or similarly significant effects.

You can influence results by updating your taste profile, rating recipes, and providing feedback.

7. Your choices

You may decline AI consent during onboarding; however, core AI features (chat, personalized picks, taste-aware search) require this consent to function safely and as designed.

You may withdraw consent by deleting your account (Settings → Privacy) or contacting us. Withdrawal stops future AI processing but may not delete data already processed by providers under their retention rules.

You can export your data before deletion.

8. Logging and analytics

We do not log full chat message bodies or raw allergy lists in application analytics.

Operational logs may include non-content metadata (timestamps, error codes, rate-limit events) for security and reliability.

9. Changes to AI processing

If we materially change how AI processes your data, we will update this policy and request renewed consent where required by law.
